hello!
My main goal for this site is for it to function as an archive for all of my creative works. Throughout my adult life I've felt my inner self screaming to be more creative, but part of me has always neglected those feelings. Lately I've been inspired to create more, whether that's just making more creative decisions in my daily life or actually sitting down and getting through pieces of music, photography, and writing that have been stuck in my brain for years. While I'd love for any of these endeavors to be my job some day, I need to be able to make things without the influence of a client or algorithm. I desperately want to create
art, not products. I've made enough products in my life.
music
I will always find something I like in any piece of music I listen to. The majority of the music I love is drum, percussion, and rhythmically focused (and most likely under the punk and hardcore umbrella), but that certainly doesn't cover all of my listening. I come from an academic music background and hopefully this page will become one of many ways that I can actually use it again. Music used to be my entire life. I grew up playing saxophone in band and I eventually learned euphonium for drum and bugle corps and cymbals for college band. I teach college marching band now and I'm so grateful to have the marching arts in my life as an adult. All music I create, digital or analog, is heavily influenced by my time marching, and it always will be.
photography
I've recently revived my love for film photography. I was very lucky to go to a high school that offered photography classes, but I never really took photos after the class ended. I would try here and there, but I was never able to get into any sory of habit. Film photography has become arguably my main hobby, as I type this I have two freshly developed rolls drying in the downstairs bathroom. I prefer black and white because I can develop it at home, but something about cheap color film in a "disposable" feels so right.
Film Equipment: Body: Pentax K1000, Pentax MEF, Ilford Sprite. Lens: 50mm f2. Favorite Film Stocks: Kodax Tri-X, Fuji 400 (for the sprite), Kodak Ultramax 400

writing
Writing has never been more of a wisp of an idea for me. I hated english classes throughout almost all of my education, but grew to really enjoy writing essays by graduation. I read almost every day, but writing outside of school work has almost never come naturally. One of my big goals for this chapter of my life is to write creatively and post it online, even if no one will ever see it. Right now I am working on a creative nonfiction piece about being the only non-engineer in a room, but I am predominantly interested in sci-fi and low/dark fantasy.
